The biggest benefactor of BAM! are the individuals. It allows any
website to leverage the power of an affiliate network to help them.
Allows the creation of new jobs.
You can probably support yourself being a "personal web agent" for a group
of people. Ie. you are an agregator that looks for information related
to your group. You direct them to the correct websites.
Returns the web to its multi-site hyperlinked state.
Now you have the tendency for
sites to keep all content under one roof because when the user leaves,
you lose your revenue stream. Originally, I believed the dream was that
we would just link to the best articles instead of producing all content
in house. Now, we have techweb with the
"old world" notion of keeping everything inside with minimal outbound links.
Can't blame them either, in the current web world, if you send someone off,
he's gone!. BAM! allows the revenue stream to still be generated when
the user leaves the site and so means that there is an incredible incentive
to link out. Why pay to create content when you can link to it and still earn
about 1/3?
Commercializes the web completely. It used to be you linked
because you wanted to send your user to relevant content you thought was
good. Now, with BAM!, you (and others) will have more incentive to do so.
However, it does mean that the most basic of the web's ideas have
been completely commercialized. The hyperlink is now your way to pay
for your living. Is that bad? I cannot say. BAM! would mean that so
much more energy will be used to create links and I believe that is good.
Look below.
Millions of searchers, agregators
Of course, once every site is BAM!-ed,
you may have a situation where people make a living as personal agents
for other people. This would mean that the web would become more organized.
When you have several armies of people organizing the web,
I think the web would become the dream that it could be.
An incredible navigable resource for people to use.
Millions of writers, content-generators.
Creating content, will always be the same. What changes however is the
ease of getting the article read, or the movie seen. BAM! means that
you have those millions of agregators running wildly across the web
looking for content to show their users. Don't you think they'll find
yours? Most definately! They benefit from sending users to you.
