Textswap Single School v1.0 (Textswap SS) UPDATE: The software is now free. Just go straight to the download page to obtain it. However, no support is provided. TextSwap SS is a powerful and focused, textbook classifieds board. Based on Perl and mySql, Textswap SS is capable of scaling to support as large a student community as you can gather. This version is designed to support a single university/school/college. Textswap SS includes the full complement of features required to maintain a minimum hassle, maximum use site. The simplest example, you don't have to pre-enter the names of the courses or their books related books. The first user will do it themselves and the database is automatically updated so the the next user doesn't have to. In addition to standard features, there are several distinguishing capabilities provided along with TextswapSS. 1. Through through the eMason Central Database - CDB (registration on eMason is required to use the service) a. book information will be automatically obtained (if available) from the CDB. Users need only to fill in the ISBN# and the system will take care of the rest of the information b. your installation of TextswapSS will tap into the global book inventory available througout the network of TextswapSS sites to display to your users. For starters, approximately 5,000 books currently under the TextswapSS system on Textswap.com will be automatically displayed on your system. 2. Users can conduct their own advertising through email or flyers. Essentially, this is free advertising for your site! While users promote the sale of their own books, your site will be promoted as well! 3. The source code is viewable as well as modifiable. This allows you to add on capabilities as you desire.
